What are Eyelash Extensions?

Eyelash extensions are an exciting product to help you achieve the look of thicker and longer, yet natural-looking eyelashes. This is done by adhering individual, synthetic lash hairs to the client’s own individual natural lashes. True eyelash extensions are not strip lashes or cluster lashes. Eyelash extensions are synthetic hairs that look just like your own natural lash hairs. When done safely and properly, a full set of lash extensions takes approximately two hours to complete.

Will I feel them?

No. If your full set has been applied properly, you should not feel eyelash extensions whatsoever. You might even forget you have them on.

Are there different styles?

There are three main styles of eyelash extensions: Classic, Hybrid, and Volume. These styles serve as highly customizable templates that allow us to provide you with a myriad of options, tailored specifically for you. Classic style is the most natural style and consists of one extension placed on top of one natural lash. Volume style is the fullest of the three styles and is achieved by placing a single, lightweight, hand-made (not factory, pre-made) volume “fan” underneath or on the side of a single natural lash. Hybrid style is a mixture of both Classic and Volume styles.

How long should eyelash extensions last?

They should last anywhere between four and eight weeks depending on how well you take care of them and depending on your own lashes’ natural growth cycle. If you are like most of our clients, once you have them applied, you will become addicted and want to wear them all the time! In order to keep your lash extensions full and looking great, simple maintenance or “fill” appointments are needed typically every two-to-three weeks. Fill appointments are necessary because, like your fingernails and the hair on your head, your individual eyelashes grow out on a continuous cycle of replenishment. As your eyelashes that are at the end of their growth cycle shed, it is necessary to apply some new extensions to maintain the fullness of your set. Retouch or “fill” appointments take only 45-60 minutes.

Will extensions harm my natural lashes?

Eyelash extensions will not harm your lashes if they are applied safely and properly. The images below are some examples of some very poor work. You can see that the lashes are clumped together with adhesive (no, that’s not mascara!) and some of the natural lashes have even broken off due to the damage. The bald spots are everywhere. It will take months for damaged lashes to get back to normal –if they all grow back. In addition to the poor quality jobs, the issue of safety should be considered. Since sharp tweezers and adhesive in your eyeball is obviously something that can harm you, be sure to have your extensions done by someone who has engaged in a hands-on training course by a reputable company and has been trained properly and safely. It never fails a few times every month, we gain a new client from someone who had a pretty bad experience. The outcome and quality of your lash extensions will rely heavily upon whom you choose to do your application.

How do I take care of my eyelash extensions?

It is not difficult to care for you new lashes. Avoid steam, products with oil on or around your lashes and avoid water for the first 24 hours (these are key); however, there are a few more details that will be provided. You will also be given an “after care” instruction card to take home as a reminder. Should you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to send a text for a quick response.

What do I need to do before my appointment?

Remove all eye makeup; be sure not to use oil based makeup removers or cleansers to clean your lashes prior to the application.
Do not curl your lashes.
If you have on any extensions from another salon, please schedule to add a lash removal to your appointment time. We will safely and gently remove them without damaging your natural lashes. Do not try to do yourself using an at-home, “Googlemethod. Doing so will severely damage your lashes.
Set aside at least two hours for your appointment depending on which style you want applied. Don’t worry! You will be laying down on a comfortable massage table with a bolster under your knees. If you add a relaxing massage during your appointment, it makes the time go much faster.
If your natural lashes are very light, a lash tint prior to application is strongly recommended. Your new lashes will appear much fuller if your own light lashes have been tinted prior. Oftentimes, Jill can tint your lashes on the same day.
